New Data Handling Features
Integration with Python
EViews 11 introduces integration with the Python programming language.
Much like the existing integration with R and Matlab®, the Python integration allows you to run code from within EViews itself, granting access to the powerful Python programming language to create or run processes not currently implemented in EViews.
Duplicates Analysis
One thankless data task is examining data to find miscoding or other errors. One important approach to data cleaning is identification and examination of observations with duplicates.
EViews 11 provides easy-to-use tools for analyzing your series or group data to identify duplicate observations. Specialized tools make it easy you to work with and edit groups of repeated observations.
Split Frequency Conversion
EViews offers an extensive library of frequency conversion methods. EViews 11 expands upon these methods with the addition of the Split high-to-low frequency conversion method.
Split creates multiple low-frequency series from a single high-frequency source series, where each created series contains data from a set high frequency period.
For example, when converting data between monthly and quarterly frequencies, Split can create three series, the first containing data from the first month in each quarter, the second series containing data from the second month in each quarter, and the last containing data from the third month in each quarter.
This creation of multiple destination series is the foundation of many modern mixed-frequency estimation and nowcasting techniques such as MIDAS. The Split frequency conversion method makes it easy to use these methods manually.
Bureau of Economic Analysis Data
EViews 11 offers a new custom interface to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) dataset.
The BEA provides GDP data for US at both the national and regional levels, as well as a number of sector/industry specific statistics plus foreign trade and investment data.
National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
NOAA provides access to a list of datasets that offer a large range of publicly available weather and climate data, with particular detail to US weather. EViews 11 adds an interface to NOAA data, allowing fetching of data at the station level, and searching for stations within geographic regions.
US Census Data
EViews 11 also offers a new custom interface to the US Census bureau's collection of online data.
The Census Bureau provides access to a list of datasets that offer a large range of publicly available data about the people and economy of the United States.
